The ISET® technology is based on a simple blood draw with no harm nor pain to patients. Once the blood is drawn, it is processed by a dedicated apparatus, the Rarecells® Device, which allows the vertical filtration of blood in order to isolate the very rare CCC. The method has a very high and unparalleled sensitivity, being able to detect one tumor cell in 10 mL of blood, i.e. one tumor cell mixed with on average, 100 million leukocytes and 50 billion erythrocytes. This characteristic is of key importance for detecting cancer invasion at a very early stage, i.e. when these CCC are still very rare in the blood. The ISET® technology allows to detect the onset of cancer invasion before standard imaging techniques can detect the invasive tumor and metastases. It is an additional tool to enable prediction and prevention of metastasis.
